Wall-E
Wall-E was the academy award winning movie in the animated picture category for the year 2009. It comes from the warehouse of the giants themselves-Disney and Pixar animation studios.
It takes us to earth in the year around 2800. The earth is littered with waste and has become uninhabitable for humans. All the humans have left earth on spaceships , the leading ship being the Axiom. Our hero WALL-E(Waste Allocation Load Lifter-Earth class) is deployed on earth in the mission clean-up which the humans started before they left. It just pulls in loads of waste, compresses it and turns it into cubic shape, and then stacks them into a pile.
The initial scenes of the movie show the earth as littered with waste, no vegetation, and just dust and mounts of waste for as far as the eyes can see. Wall-E just wanders around colleecting waste, piling it into mounts , retaining curios with it (he finds a diamond ring with case but likes only the case and throws away the ring!). His shelter is a truck and he has decorated it with lights, an old tv with a cassette player, and his own spare parts.
He finds a small plant inside an abandoned fridge and he keeps it for adding to his collection. This is in someways a key point in the story.
Our heroine EVA(earth vegetation analyser) is a cute robot that can hover aroud like a bee and is pure white in color. It is deployed on earth by a spaceship and its mission is to find vegetation on earth. Wall-E becomes attracted to it but is scared when EVA shoots at anything it detects to be moving. Wall-E then saves EVA from a sandstorm and takes her to his shelter. There he shows her the different curios he collected , plays a song on the TV for her and among others, he shows her the potted plant too. On seeing this , she is alerted and captures the plant into a vault inside her and goes into a standby mode with a green light flashing indicating that she found vegetation.
Wall-E tries to talk to her but all in vain. She remains in the standby mode. He guards her in the rain, plays video game for her, goes to the lover's point with her to make her talk. But she remains in the standby mode. Finally a ship comes to take her and wall he follows her into the ship and finally into the axiom. EVA is taken to the captain, who is amazed to see that the probe has returned positive.
Humans are picturised as fat pig-like beings as the low gravity in space has caused bone loss.
The captain then takes the steps in the manual when the probe is positive. EVA is opened but the plant is missing. EVA is taken to repair shop to correct the defect. EVA and WALL-E escape from there and does a little bit of dancing around in the space with the help of a fore extinguisher propelling him. Wall-E gives her back the plant after the dance and EVA kisses him which just electrifies him.
The manual guides the captain about everything. The captain doesn't know anything about earth and asks about earth, farms, fiels, plants, dance etc to the auto who defines everything and shows him pictures. He is amazed about earth and wants to return home. By the time EVA takes the plant to captain . The captain takes measures to steer their course back to earth. But another turning point comes when the auto stops captain from going to earth. It cites the reason that the earth is uninhabitable as the operation cleanup had failed. But captain begs to differ that the plant shows that the situation is back to normal on earth. But the auto overpowers him and he is locked. Eva is switched off by police robots and Wall-E is given a shock which disables him. Eva is put in the waste disposal deck. From there Eva and Wall-E unite and go back and place the plant on the ships guide so that the course is steered back to earth. The humans reach earth . But wall-e 's circuits are damaged. Eva changes with a spare one but that is a new wall-e without its old memories and likes eva no more. Finally he returns to his old state when his old motherboard is restored.
Catchy dialogues: "I don't want to just survive, i want to live"-captain of axiom tells auto indicating the mechanised life onboard axiom
