ROBERT BOSCH PLACEMENT AT CET, TRIVANDRUM ON JAN 27, 2011

Sunday, February 6, 2011

Robert Bosch visited the campus on 27th January 2010. The placement was for EC/CS/EEE/Applied Electronics and Instrumentation. They said that CS ppl were for the IT department and hence they had a different test.
Eligibility criteria:65% with maximum 2 dead back-papers.

The PPT was marvellous. They gave a brief account of the company and showed us some videos of their car electronics testing facilities. It was breathtaking. The next procedure was the written test.

Written test
It consisted of  60 questions for 60 minutes. There were 30 technical questions and 30 aptitude questions.
Some of the technical questions I remember are:

-which of the following devices depend on electron emission?
a)Gunn diode  b)FET
c)BJT             c)none

-In a series tuned resonant circuit at the resonant frequency, the current
a)is directly proportional to the frequency      b)is independent of the frequency
c)is inversely proportional to the frequency    d)none

-In which type of interrupt the device supplies an address which decides the interrupt service routine?
a)vectored interrupt              b)polling
c)DMA                                d)none

there was also 5 questions from C.

-What is the output of the program:
  #define sqrt(x)    x*x
main()
{
int c,
c=5*sqrt(4)+3;
printf("%d",c);
}

ans:83

-In the embedded C which of the following is given importance?
a)memory    b)speed
c)cost          d)none

-Which of the following is not a Real Time OS?
a)Vxworks       b)....(some other options)

Aptitude section:
It consisted of normal questions seen for the placement tests. A book like RS Aggarwal is enough reference. This section included:
-10 questions based on arranging persons in the correct order. the question given was "Ram is elder than sunil. Sunil is younger than Anil bul elder than vikram......"
-5 questions based on a passage
-5 questions based on arranging the given 4 sentences in the correct order based on time.
-normal aptitude questions from time and work, pipes and cisterns, etc.

Almost 150 wrote the test and 52 were shortlisted for the interview. Only 5 were shortlisted from CS. There were 5 interview panels.

interview

Technical Interview
More was asked about microcontrollers and microprocessors, though control system, lic,
digital were also asked in other panels, they ask us about our favourite subject and
questions will be from that, however having knowledge about Microcontrollers is gonna  help you really well.

HR
that was simple, just casual talk, asked about academic background, family back ground,
number of job offers in hand, why bosch, hobbies and stuff.
heard that the result is a total weight age of your performance in test and both
interviews.
In a different panel,  in the tech interview the guy made a list of all the core subjects and electives, and
asked qs from all of them.... both basics and hi level qs. the interview lasted for quite
a while..... The interviews were for 45 mins per person in that panel. He let through only 3 persons. The guys who got that panel were unlucky. Other panels were OK. The HR interview was simple for all of them. The placement ended at night 10. The result was announced 2 days later.
The selection list was : Total 26 (EC-7, AE-16, EE-2, CS-1)
