In this article, we present the 10 movies that topped the charts in 2009. Watch them and have fun!.
10. Ice Age 2: The dawn of the dinosaurs

The first movie that comes into our mind when we think of animated movies is Ice Age. The mammoth and his partner(whatever be his species!) have been etched in our minds. Dreamworks brings out this sequel to ‘Ice Age’. The animated characters are perfect: you can count their single hairs. The visual effects guys have done a great job! The trailor is funny too. You have a squirrel and its female fighting for a nut and she gets tossed into the cliff during the fight. The squirrel jumps to save her. She catches hold to the nut in a mid air fight and flies up ‘coz she was a flying squirrel! And our hero falls down. The movie is equally interesting and funny.
9. The Night at the Museum 2
This is the sequel to the 2008 hit movie.  Starring Ben Stiller who works at the museum as the night watchman.  The films announces the opening credits announcing characters like Abraham Lincoln, Atlas, etc. The director has vividly used visual effects and an entire museum of artifacts comes lively in the night. All in all, it’s a good watch.

8. Monster Vs Aliens
This is an animated movie that got into our charts. The aliens are attacking our planet and the government is using a woman who turned into monster due to some alien contact against them along with a team of equally strange characters: an amoeba like being who makes his entry yelling:” you don’t need to have a brain”, a one eyed being and so on. This is yet another hit from the dreamworks animation studios . They have done their homework this time too: stunning visual effects and CGI- more than fitting for an animated movie. You can’t afford to miss this one!
7. Star Trek
We have been hearing of movies about space- wars and interplanetary travels like Star-Wars. Well this is your chance to see one. This film features the childhood of captain Spock-the genius who becomes the captain of the enterprise. Spock’s mother is from earth and he is mocked by his peers as an ‘earthling’. But he loves his mother.  Also we have Rick, whose father had sacrificed his life to save the Enterprise- an incident that occurred when he was just born. The story begins when another ship comes to destroy earth using “The Red Matter”, a kind of jelly like substance that is dropped into the earth’s core to destroy it. Rick happens to have been on earth that time and spock cannot save his mother.
The sets and the visual effects are simply mind-blowing. The  make up artistes must have had a hard time fixing those long ears to the actors! Finally Spock makes a sacrifice to prevent a collision with the enterprise and save it. This movie is for the Star Wars fans and those who want to be Star Wars fans. I can promise you that you’ll start looking for the earlier parts of star trek once you watch this one.
6. Hangover
This is a comedy movie. This is about a group of friends. One is getting married. They  go for  a picnic to celebrate  and then something wrong happens and the person who is getting married goes missing. There isn’t a dull moment in the movie. Each and every scene has something that tingles your spine. Forget all your tension. Give it a watch!
5.  Wolverine
Its raining sequels this year!  We have been waiting for an X-Men movie this year and here it is! With Hugh Jackman playing wolverine, this movie sheds light on the origin of wolverine  and how he becomes a hero.  This movie has some breathtaking stunts. Created a huge collection worldwide. Watch it for the sheer fun of it!
4. The Twilight Saga: The New Moon
This is again a sequel to the twilight series. This is based on a best selling novel and has created huge collection worldwide. It deserves its position at number 4 in our list.  We suggest you watch it for the pleasre of it.
3. Up!
Another one from the dreamworks armoury! This is a story about an old man who stays alone in his house till on one day he just says good bye to everyone and opens up the top of his cottage to bring out a hundred balloons that lift his house along with it to the skies. This was what he had been planning for years. But the twist happens when he finds out that a boy is also trapped with him in his house when it took off. These two continue their journey and their endeavour is just pure pleasure to watch.
2.  Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince
This is the final harry potter movie. Based on the  novel by JK Rowling, this movie was most awaited by the Harry Potter fans all over the world. All the wicked people must meet their end. This pard sees the doom of lord voldermort. We will never know why the name is not Half Prince’s blood but the other way round! As the usual Potter movies, this one also has best in class visual effects and CGI used. Who cares about the costs involved anyway when you’re working on a Harry Potter movie! The movie broke all records at box office collections.
1.  Transformers 2: The revenge of the fallen

Didn’t we say you, its raining sequels this year ! This one’s the sequel to the ‘Transformers’. Michael Bay has cast his magic this time too! This movie released in the early part of the year got the cash registers ticking. The animation and computer graphics are extremely complex. You see  the Camaro transform into Bumble bee in seconds. Even if you watch it at one tenth the speed you will sit with your mouth open “Wow! How did that happen man!”. Telling about the graphics and CGI part, they say that it would take 3 years’ continuous operation for your PC to render a single frame in the movie. Thank god we have the workstations!  And we have Stephen Spielberg at the production desk.  And also we have Megan Foxx! Put in All the experts in the industry and lo! We have this incredible movie.
The plot is that Sam joins the college and the portion of the ‘All Spark’ left undestroyed lures the megatrons to earth. The bad guys come searching for a tomb formed by the bodies of the good guys for some secret weapon. The transformers won’t allow them to get their hands to it. Then there is the guy called ‘fallen’ who knew these secrets.  The stunt scenes  rises your adrenaline levels.  Watch it for experiencing visual effects at its best and also for the reason that it is number 1 on our list!
Tail End: The movie 'Inception'  is running full house.   When you get bored this weekend  sitting at home and watching movies go out and watch this one!
